The Classic - Cup of Hot Matcha Tea

Let's start with the most basic and simple recipe to get you moving on your matcha journey.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 to a full teaspoon of your matcha tea powder
  • 100ml or 3.4floz of purified or spring water
  • a cup or bowl
  • kettle or pot
  • an electric whisk or spoon to mix

Directions:

Put your Matcha Powder into a cup or bowl. Start by sifting your matcha powder. It clumps easily, and the clumps can be difficult to whisk away, so this step will help make your matcha smooth, creamy & lump-free. Pour in hot water just below 175°F, Whisk vigorously until the matcha green tea powder is fully dispersed. You want to move your whisk in an up-and-down or side-to-side motion, not the usual circular pattern, in order to get your matcha to foam.

Pour in your water.

Stir with whisk or spoon until you see the tea foam and bubble up and enjoy!
